Priorat
Priorat, in Catalonia, is one of only two Spanish appellations classified DOQ, on a par with Rioja.
Its secret lies in llicorella, a black slate soil that forces vines to root deeply and yields wines of striking minerality and concentration. Grenache and Carignan reign here, often from century-old vines planted on vertiginous slopes.
Rediscovered in the 1990s by a handful of growers including René Barbier, the region now produces some of Spain's most sought-after wines. Delivery throughout Switzerland.
